Abstract:

An international symposium and colourful celebrations in September 2014, were among the events that marked the 2565th birthday of Confucius in Beijing and Qufu respectively. President Xi Jinping has been promoting the philosophy of Confucius and it is interesting to analyze the reasons behind this, in the context of the current political and socio-economic situation in China.
