                                                                                               1. ASSOCIATE FELLOW
 Qualifications:
 
The candidate should be a creative scholar in the study of Chinese politics and foreign relations or has researched extensively on India-China relations; or the Chinese economy and China’s international economic relations.
 
The candidate must have a Ph.D in any social science discipline with an East Asia focus from any recognized Indian or foreign university with a minimum research experience of 6 years.

Competence in Chinese language and in the utilization of Chinese source materials for research would be an additional asset.
 
Research deliverables can be mutually agreed after discussion with the Director. 

Overall, candidate shall:

  • Individually carry out research activities related to own focussed area of research;
  • Lead a project undertaken at any time by the institute; 
  • Plan, design and implement research projects for the Institute;
  • Publish Commentaries/Issue Briefs; ICS Analysis; ICS Occasional Paper; Book Reviews;
  • Regular, short contributions to ICS Research Blog;
  • Organise round tables, workshops, seminars, conferences, meetings as and when required;
  • Provide leadership to younger scholars;
  • Provide support to Senior Fellows at the Institute;
  • Editing skills with a strong attention to detail;
  • Represent ICS at scholarly meetings and print/TV/web related interviews; and
  • Represent ICS at various academic conferences and meetings. 

The position will be on a one-year contract, extendable. Salary and other emoluments will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

  • List of Articles/ Books/ Monographs published

2. RESEARCH ASSOCIATE

Qualification:
 
The candidate should be a creative scholar in the study of Chinese politics and foreign relations or has researched extensively on India-China relations; or the Chinese economy and China’s international economic relations.
 
Ph.D. from the field of East Asian Studies/ International Relations, or any other social sciences discipline, with a focus on China, with a minimum research experience of 2 years; 

Those who have recently submitted their doctoral thesis/dissertation and await oral defence may also be considered.

Competence in Chinese language and in the utilization of Chinese source materials for research would be an additional asset.

Research deliverables can be mutually agreed after discussion with the Director.
