Gauri Agarwal is a research intern at the institute of Chinese Studies (ICS) Delhi.  She has completed her graduation in political science from Jesus and Mary college, Delhi University. At  present  she is working on ‘China’s involvement in SAARC and its implications for India’. Her areas of interest include Sino-Indian and China-South Asia relations; China’s engagement in  multi-lateral  forums in Asia.

The paper compares and analyses the engagements of Indian and Chinese Governments with its respective diaspora. It argues, the Indian government’s engagement with its diaspora despite recognizing its importance is still at a very nascent stage, in comparison to the Chinese government’s engagement with its diaspora.
