MIRA SINHA BHATTACHARJEA AWARD
 

NOTICE
The Institute of Chinese Studies (ICS) invites applications for short term projects pertaining to China and / or East Asia. The project should be of three to six months duration and to be completed within the period 1st October 2011 to 31st March 2012.
Kindly send a 300 word project proposal, along with a budget and a short CV of the principal investigator / coordinator. The deadline for the proposals is 21st September 2011. Kindly do not make any telephone enquiries. The proposal should be sent preferably by email.

Project Guidelines, 2011-2012
In line with its current expansion of activities, the Institute of Chinese Studies, Delhi, invites project proposals from scholars of China and East Asia for the year 2011-2012.  The following are the Guidelines for project proposals:

  1.  Projects: Acceptable projects may be of several types: (i) original research projects; (ii) exercises in documentation on relevant issues; (iii) conference or workshop proposals
  2. Themes: The Institute prefers focus on current issues pertaining to China and other East Asian countries.
  3. Investigators: Projects may be individual or joint, and may include provision for research assistants.
  4. Product: Proposals are expected to provide a clear idea of the outcome of the project, for instance, a publishable academic or policy-related paper, monograph, documentation, seminar report, etc., and indicate its potential relevance to public policy.
  5. Time frame: The projects are to be conducted within the time frame, 1 October 2011 to 31 March 2012, and may be of varying durations within this frame.
  6. Budget: The budget for the project should normally not exceed Rs. 5 lakhs.
  7. Application procedure: In the first instance, ICS solicits a 300 word proposal as an expression of interest, accompanied by a budget estimate and a short c.v. of the principal investigator.  These should be sent by email to the Director, ICS, at the email address, .

    Following scrutiny by the sub-committee constituted for this purpose, some applicants may be requested to provide detailed project proposals for further consideration, and may be called for interview with the committee. 

The committee’s decision shall be final.
